What's New for October 2025
Major Update: From October 2025 onwards, GARP announced that online proctoring option will now be available for SCR exams starting Oct 2025
Two Exam Options:
In-person: Traditional computer-based testing (CBT) at Pearson VUE centers
Online proctored: Remote testing via Pearson VUE's OnVUE system (NEW!)
Fee Structure & Payment
Retake Candidates
Candidates who don't pass their Exam, register and don't schedule their Exam, or schedule and don't take the Exam can pay a one-time retake fee of USD 350, during the next two exam cycles only
Payment Methods
Candidates can pay for their exam registration via:
Credit Card: GARP accepts MasterCard, Visa, Amex, and Discover
Wire: All wire payments will include a USD 50 processing fee
ACH: All ACH payments will include a USD 50 processing fee

Schedule Exam: SCR candidates must schedule an exam at least 48 hours prior to their desired exam start time, only for the exam window they're registered for
First-Come, First-Served: The in-person computer based exams slots are on a first-come, first-served basis
Online Proctoring Requirements (NEW)
To take your Exam with OnVUE, you must use a suitable device, have a reliable internet connection, and adhere to the following requirements:
A computer running Windows 10, MacOS 13, or higher
A webcam, microphone, and speaker
One display screen only. Secondary displays must be disconnected
A hard-wired (Ethernet) connection to your router is recommended
Key Exam Details
Format & Duration
The SCR Exam is a comprehensive assessment covering fundamental guidelines, methodologies, and frameworks used in anticipating and managing climate risk. It consists of 80 equally weighted multiple-choice questions, including one case study. Candidates will be allotted a maximum of four hours to complete the Exam
Results Timeline
SCR exam results are typically released 4 weeks after the exams
Expected results for October 2025: Mid-December 2025 to early January 2026
Important Policies
Deferral Option
SCR candidates may only defer an exam registration once to the next exam window. A deferral to the next exam window must be submitted and paid by the below deferral deadlines... There is an administrative processing fee of USD 150 to defer
Refund Policy
Candidates have 48 hours after registration to request a refund via memberservices@garp.com
No Prerequisites Required
Just like the Certificate in ESG Investing, there are no work experience or prior qualifications required to sit for the SCR exam
